PROHIBITED ARTICLES

 
European Commission adopted the Regulation (EC) No 1546/2006 (amending the Regulation (EC) No 622/2003) on 4 October 2006, which lays down measures for the implementation of the common basic standards on aviation security. The Regulation was published in the Official Journal of the European Union on 17 October 2006 and entered into force on 6 November 2006.

List of prohibited articles:
1) The following articles and substances are not permitted to be carried into the security restricted area of an airport or into the cabin of an aircraft

a) Guns, firearms and weapons
Any object that can be used as a weapon or capable of causing injuries, for example:

b) Pointed weapons and sharp objects
Pointed or bladed articles capable of causing injury, for example:

c) Blunt instruments
Any blunt instrument capable of causing injury.

d) Explosives and flammable substances
Any explosive or highly combustible substances which poses a risk to the health of passengers and crew, or the security and safety of the aircraft or property, for example:

e) Chemical and toxic substances
Any chemical or toxic substance which poses a risk to the health of passengers and crew, or the security and safety of the aircraft or property.

f) Liquids
Unless in individual containers with a capacity not greater than 100 millilitres or equivalent and contained in one transparent re-sealable plastic bag of a capacity not exceeding 1 litre. The contents of the plastic bag shall fit comfortably and the bag shall be completely closed. All liquids shall be presented in the examination point for controlling.


Liquids include gels, pastes, lotions, liquid/solid mixtures and the contents of pressurised containers, e.g. toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, shaving foam, aerosols and other items of similar consistency, for example:

2) The following articles and substances are not permitted to be in the checked luggage:
• Explosives, including detonators, fuses, grenades, mines and explosives
• Gases, incl. propane, butane
• Flammable liquids, including gasoline, methanol
• Flammable solids and reactive substances, including magnesium, firelighters, firework, flares
• Oxidizers and organic peroxides, including bleach, car body repair kits
• Toxic or infectious substances, including rat poison, infected blood
• Radioactive material, including medicinal or commercial isotopes
• Corrosives, including mercury, vehicle batteries
• Vehicle fuel system components which have contained fuel

Security staff may refuse access to a security restricted area of the airport and the cabin of an
aircraft any passenger in possession of  articles or substances not contained in the list of prohibited items over which the person performing security control has concern.
