Flight connection between Tartu and Helsinki will be restored in March

09.11.2021

Finnair announced today that they will restore the flight connection between Tartu and Helsinki as of March 28, 2022.

Flights between Tartu and Helsinki will take place five times a week, providing possibilities both for business and holiday trips. On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, flights take place in the evening in order to catch late night connecting flights of Finnair to Asia, Scandinavia and Finnish domestic lines. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, flights take place in daytime, facilitating convenient transfer to the connecting flights in the European line network of Finnair, as well as in the direction of Asia.

According to Eero Pärgmäe, Commercial Director of Tallinn Airport, the line has been restored thanks to cooperation and mutual efforts to reach a common goal. “I am glad that the coming year enables us to restore the flight connection disrupted last year due to the pandemic. We are thankful to Tartu City and appreciate their firm wish to restore the air traffic throughout this difficult period as well as their continued support. In addition to the support of the city, it is also very important to us that the state continues to support regional airports, which made it possible to keep Tartu Airport ready for reopening of flights,” said Pärgmäe and added that the good percentage of filled seats before the pandemic as well as constant inquiries and questions about recovery of the flight connection from Tartu give confidence in the success of the line.

“In a situation full of restrictions, Finnair has offered a flexible solution covering the needs of both business customers and tourists,” said Urmas Klaas, the mayor of Tartu, who was glad for the reopening of the airline. “We are very thankful both to Finnair and Tallinn Airport for stable cooperation and support, thanks to which Tartu will regain an international flight connection already at the end of March,” he added.

Tartu-Helsinki line will be served by a 70-seat aircraft of Finnair, ATR-72.
